Ok so I am out jogging and when my iPod 20gb attempted to switch songs it just froze up. The backlight stayed on but none of the buttons would work. My first thought was "When did Microsoft purchase Apple?" My second thought was what do I do now. So I got back home and searched for an answer on the internet. Most people were saying you would have to just let the battery die and then turn it back on. Then I found out that you can hold down the Menu and Center buttons for a few seconds and it will reboot the iPod. Well it worked so all is good again in my world. So I thought I would let you guys know since most of my friends have iPod's.

So apparently come December I'll join the rest of you in the ipod nation. I'm pretty stoked about that, but I can't get one right now because we have stuff like cribs and car seats to get. Oh well, christmas should be decent, unless everyone forgets me and buys stuff for the kid.

YouKnow. This may not be the only solution, an iPod is essentially a hard drive and although I can't say for certain a last case alternative would be to try and de-fragment or ultimately format your iPod. I tried the reset on my iPod to no avail. Also a few of my songs on the iPod are cut a lil short leading me to believe a de-fragment is in order.

I had the same probelem with my ipod mini 4gb and i tried holding the menu and the select button a couple of time and it worked for me.

I would try it again. It always works for me. Make sure that your keylock is not switched on! (ive done that before)

Ok, I have the 30G Video iPod and I was switching songs when it froze. I got confused, I didn't know you had hold down both menu and the center button but now it works and I'm happy! Thank you thank you thank you!!!!!

I unplugged my ipod from the computer ISB port and it froze up. Plugging it back in wouldn't help and I had no idea what to do. I googled "Ipod froze" and yours was the first to come up. Your solution of pressing both buttons was something I was not aware of. Thank you SOOOO much.

Was @ the gym & mine froze while playing. So defeating when you have nothing to listen to but gym music (Go-Go Girls & R. Kelly). Came home & googles solutions & this was the first to pop up. Tried holding the menu & center buttons & it worked like a charm. Thanks.
